My Research Paper

Actually this is my first research paper written in English; even though I did some research papers before in the university, this research paper it’s kind of different. The first reason is because I must write in English; sometimes I had difficulties to recognize grammatical error, and word choices. The second reason is because there is no specific field of the research, or in the other word the topic is too general. Because I can choose any topics, it made me difficult to decide what my topic is going to be. When I did research paper in the university, usually just for specific area that professor asked. For example in finance major, the professor asked our class to do research paper about tools that can be used to give value for company. I also have problem to find the sources, because we need to use three sources: book, article, and journal. The problem is I have to relate the sources with what I want to write in my research paper. The things I like it in here is they have special website like http://www.turnitin.com/, so it’s help me to avoid plagiarisms. Even though, I had some difficulties, I found this research paper really helpful and useful for helping me survive in the university, especially for master degree program. In addition Mrs. Azimi is a really good teacher, she helped me a lot. I just really want to say thanks to her for everything that she has done for helping us during this semester.

21 is the new movie that comes up in the movie theater and it also takes place in the number one top box office movie based on http://www.filmcritic.com/. Basically, the movie tells about Ben Campbell who wants to enter in the Harvard Medical School; even though he is genius, he couldn’t afford the intuition cost which is over $300,000. In addition, if he wants to get scholarship he has tight competition with other geniuses. The opportunity to get a lot of money is coming when his calculus professor, Jason Fisher, invites him to join in his team for playing black jack card in Las Vegas. He teaches his team to work in group and also uses the basic math like counting card in order to win the gambling. Short story Ben can win the gambling continuously and save money little by little, but his attitude is changing, he becomes arrogant. Until one day when he loses a lot of money because he wasn’t counting but gambling, his relationship with his professor becomes worse and he finally aware who is his professor is. Begins with caught by the casino security, he planned to trick his professor and do revenge to him. In the end, he finally can enter the Harvard Medical School by getting a scholarship, and started a new life with his girlfriend.
I really like this movie, because the movie tells about the situation that some people is facing, which deals with the high school intuition. There many ways people usually doing when this situation is happened, for example works harder to get more money, or maybe they must bury their dream to enter their favorite university, and go to another university that cost cheaper. However, from this movie Ben chooses the different way which try to gambling in Las Vegas because influence of his professor. There is a unique solution to get a lot of money that may some people never think about that, it’s because they use the special technique which is not just gambling in the unsurely. For some people they’re gambling in expectation to get a lot of money in the short cut way or maybe the just play for fun, but Ben did this in purpose for pay his intuition, but later his attitude also changes be changes his standard living and also leave his best friends.
In addition, the movie also gives moral message to the audience that gambling is not the best way to gather money. Maybe you can win now, but you will lose that money in the future, besides that it also sin in my religion. It’s better to use the straight way like working or study harder, and leave the rest to God. I believe the things that you easy to get, it will easy to lose too.

Research Paper

Talk about my research paper, I would like to write about “How Internet advertising can give return to company.” My reason to choose that topic because nowadays almost in every web that we open there are so many advertising, so there are questions in my mind: “Are these advertising effective and how these companies get profit from this advertising?”, or “What advantageous of this kind of advertising compare to other kinds of advertising?”
Internet article is the most helpful source for my research paper so far, because there are many articles talked about this topic, so I can easily get information and also compare to other articles, and chose the best article based on my criteria. In the Journal, I also can gather some information from the database of Cal-state Fullerton library, so it’s not really a problem for my research paper. However, I have difficulty to get information from book; so far I haven’t done yet from this source, but I was tried to search some books in the Pollak library website; therefore, there are no book that really talked about my topic. Even though I can’t find right now, I will borrow some books that’s may be provide some interesting and useful information about Internet advertising and return that companies can get from it.
According to the last class section in the library, the information that I got from librarian instructor was really helpful for me, it because gave me new sources to get information from Internet; before that, I only depend on information from Google or yahoo. In addition it’s really good to know more about capability of our library to provide sources that we need.
Since I do the research, I find some interesting information and also give me more knowledge about something that I never know before. However, I also faced a problem with time, because sometimes there are a lot of homework that takes my time, so I must manage time among make a homework, study GMAT, do research, and do another activities.

Obama Talked About Racism

Actually, Obama talked about the racism that happens in America among many racist, especially between white and black people. Based on his friend and mentor that made statement that “God damn America”, he gave example how’s the people’s feeling about racism, the anger of African American to white American people that hasn’t gone yet. On the other hand, white American feels threatened by progress of African American. Even though this situation is not easy to solve, he believes that American needs to be union. All people that came from many backgrounds must be one to build America, so that’s mean people must work together as a nation to solve all the problems. Obama also mention that he came from different background, his father is from Kenya and his mother is White American.
According from his speech, I totally agree with the point that he talked, and also it is a big problem which can damage relationship among people generally and nationality specifically. I think the way he try to solve the problem in racism is really good, because he gave the real example and the clear concept to solve it. He not only tried to express the black people’s feeling about anger, but also tried to neutralize the situation by gave the right concept in their mind, like his statement “to condemn anger without understanding its roots and will not solve anything. In addition, I believe people shouldn’t be always focus in the diversity, but the must go to he same direction to the country and strengthen the nationality, it’s also important to try what people’s think and feel. Finally, I can say this is a really good speech.

Pakistan Causes Youtube Outage

This article actually tells about Pakistan that block access to the youtube website, unfortunately, that cause power lost in two-thirds of a global internet population.
The reason of Pakistan to block the access to youtube is because of anti-Islamic movies, and also the videos that will provoke people to have misconception about Islam. So why could this affect to the worldwide access? The first mistake is from Pakistan Telecom, which is they asked request to the international data carrier, PCCW Ltd. of Hong Kong to a block hole. They should be made request to a local data carrier, not to international data carrier. The second mistake came from international data carrier, PCCW Ltd. of Hong Kong that accepted that request.

So, in my opinion it is true that sometimes in websites there are movies or information that leads to the racism, especially about religions. So, I can understand why Pakistan government wants to block access to site that provides racism. However, for doing this they must have right knowledge and careful about procedure to make a request, because the later effect was caused to the worldwide access outage. PCCW Ltd. OF Hong Kong as international data carrier needs to review again before they finally accept a request, so it was a big mistake they made I think websites also have important roles to filter the information, so it is not lead people to have a misconception about something, the things like religion is sensitive to talk, and it is better to avoid that. In my knowledge youtube as a big website already had filter to things about pornography; however, I think in the future they must have filters too about violence and racism. Even though they asking for confirmation ages of users before access that, it’s not really useful because even a child can give the wrong information. I believe it needs more tight filters to access that. The most important things is from users, they must have responsibility before post a videos or even information about racism, violence, or pornography because it’s not only just shown to their community or people in the same interest, but

Living in the USA

My life is changing a lot since I moved to America from my country, Indonesia. Actually many new things I have been learning in here. Firstly, about language and culture: this is very different from my native country. In the US people is more free to speak their taught or opinion. Before I came here, I heard that some people in the US are racist; however I don’t feel that especially in California. There is many people came from different nations around the world and they’re respect one and each other. I get a new experience not only in the language and the culture, but also in my habit. In my country, I used to depend on other person to finish it my job for example cleaning a room, washing dress, or cooking food. But in here I must do everything by myself, so I have to manage between school and daily works. Secondly, adjustment is in the school. Before I study in ALP, I studied in college in Houston and then I studied TOEFL in language course. The fact that I found interesting is the way teachers teach student which is a little bit different, they’re more communicative to students, and they give a lot of homework. However, I think is helpful for students to improve their skills. Finally I can say that living in America is not only interesting because I have learn many new things, but also challenging because I have targets that I have to reach in the future.

About Love

Love is the deepest feeling to someone who is very special. However love is not always about good things, sometimes it can be hurt too. In a relationship we also need have respect, sacrifice, faith, and loyalty to prove our feeling. So for me, love is the best we can give to someone with our pure heart. However I still don’t have a perfect love in my life. The person would be my perfect love is she should love me the way I am, loyal, and belief in the same God. She doesn’t have to beautiful, but at least she is a good looking. In addition, maybe she must love my family too. Deal breaker for me if she cheats to another man, it’s mean she doesn’t love and give respect to me. Fortunately I never have this kind of experience. Talk about valentine it reminds me to my ex-girlfriend, the one and only until now, because our relationship broke in February 2004. Although she is not perfect, she means a lot to me. I learn many things from her and she is still my best friend until now. For now, my valentine is for my family and all my friends. I hope one day I can find someone who will be my soul mate.
